The River Empress has 65 staterooms, accommodating 130 members, their family, and friends.

This river cruise is best suited for adult passengers. We recommend guests be over the age of 18. Children over the age of 13 are allowed to sail, but please note that minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied, in the same stateroom, by a parent or other responsible adult over the age of 21. Uniworld Cruises does not provide child-specific programs or child-minding facilities.

Within three business days of booking, you may cancel for a full refund. After three business days, reservations are non-refundable unless Inspirato is able to rebook the package. If Inspirato is able to rebook, the Inspirato member will receive 90% back in Travel Credits. If applicable, this would be refunded one day after the package is rebooked.

This experience begins in Amsterdam, Netherlands on July 30, 2021. Embarkation begins at 4 p.m. Due to the schedule of security personnel at the port and lack of waiting facilities, River Empress cannot embark any passengers early; therefore, we recommend you do not arrive earlier than 4 p.m. Everyone must be on board no later than 6 p.m.

This experience ends on August 10, 2021. Disembarkation begins at 8 a.m. and all guests must be off the ship by 10 a.m. Flights out of Basel should not be before 2 p.m. on August 10, 2021.

Average temperatures will range from highs around 72˚F to lows around 54˚F.

Yes, complimentary daily shore excursions are included in the cost of your cruise fare. Uniworld’s excursions offer a variety of choices to introduce you to the Rhine’s grandest treasures and hidden wonders. Their “Do as the Locals Do” program provides authentic encounters with the locals to give you the chance to walk in their shoes, uncover their favorite places to meet, and taste their beloved food. Their “Village Day” program provides a similar up-close look at rural towns with visits to local homes.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the restaurant daily. 24-hour room service, early-riser breakfast, light-lunch dining, and afternoon tea are also available. A bistro menu is available for all-day snacking, as well as a 24-hour specialty coffee and tea station. Weather permitting, alfresco dining on the Sun Deck for dinner may be possible.

Dinner is served in a single seating manner in the main dining room. At dinner, guests are seated by a host and table reservations are not necessary.

If you have special dietary requirements (vegan, diabetic, gluten-free, etc.), please advise your Care team prior to your departure date. The culinary team will make every effort to accommodate your request with the resources available to them.

Soft drinks, coffee, tea, bottled water, beer, select spirits, and a selection of complimentary wines are included with your voyage fare. Additional premium and reserve selections are available for an additional charge. Passengers are welcome to board with a personal quantity of their favorite wine to enjoy during their voyage. A $15 corkage fee per bottle will be charged to your onboard account.

There are no medical facilities on board River Empress. However medical services can easily be called from shore if required.

On board, you may make and receive phone calls, text messages, and other select data services on your own mobile phone or PDA device. You will be billed by your home mobile phone provider and calls or messages will appear as roaming charges on your bill. Before leaving home, you should contact your provider to purchase an international voice, data, and messaging plan.

The ship is also equipped with a telephone system that allows you to make direct-dial phone calls from your suite while at sea. Calls will be billed to the guest’s onboard account. Please consult the ship’s reception desk for the current rate, which (at time of experience launch) is $15 per minute.

Onboard internet services are available and complimentary. You may use your own laptop to conveniently access the internet and personal email in the privacy of your own suite, and at wireless internet (Wi-Fi) locations throughout the ship.

At the time of booking, expectant mothers are required to supply a medical certificate establishing their fitness for travel at the time they are due to travel. The ship is unable to accommodate women who have entered their 24th week of pregnancy and will not be responsible or liable for any complication relative to any pregnancy during the entire duration of the cruise. Additionally, airlines may have restrictions on travel that may differ from the cruise line. Please contact your travel professional or airline.

The ship does not have any baggage or weight restrictions; however, it is important to remember that all luggage and personal items (including golf clubs) must be stored in your stateroom.

River Empress has a self-serve launderette (with ironing board) or laundry service for an additional fee. Please note there are no dry cleaning services are available onboard the River Empress.

On board the ship, smoking is allowed only in a designated area of the Sun Deck. We also ask guests to refrain from smoking on shore excursions/tours, especially since many historic sites and other tourist attractions in Europe are now smoke-free as well.

No, there is no casino on board River Empress.

River Empress has a fully equipped fitness center.

There is no pool or hot tub on board the ship.

River Empress features the Serenity River Spa™ where you can enjoy a variety of soothing massage and body treatments. Appointments for these chargeable services may be made on board the ship.

Inspirato has preferred room rates at Hotel De L’Europe in Hotel in Amsterdam and Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois. You can find pricing and booking information in the Traveler Information Form which is sent months prior to embarkation.

Voltage in Europe and aboard the ship is 220v/50Hz with two-pin “Schuko” outlets. All staterooms also have 110v outlets. Your electrical appliances from home may require a plug adapter. A hair dryer is provided in each stateroom. It is recommended that you pack an international adapter for Europe.

Dutch is the official language in the Netherlands. German is the language in our German ports of call. French will be spoken in Strasbourg, France. The most widely spoken language in Switzerland is Swiss German.

All gratuities for the ship’s staff and crew, as well as your onshore tour guides, are included in your cruise fare. When going ashore on your own, keep in mind that tipping is less expected and more modest in Europe than it is in North America (although equally appreciated). Inspirato likely will make a contribution to “crew welfare” on behalf of all members and guests to reward exceptional service.

Due to health, safety and regulatory reasons, passengers may not bring certain items aboard (including but not limited to): explosives, weapons, irons, candles, hazardous chemicals and materials, or equipment that may interfere with ship’s systems or disrupt the enjoyment of the voyage by other passengers. Illegal substances may not be boarded. Uniworld reserves the right to make adjustments to this policy and deny the boarding of items deemed unsafe/illegal.

There will be entertainment and enrichment offered daily on board River Empress. Highlights including lectures, cooking demonstrations, onboard music performances, and piano music. Whether it’s traditional music, a classical quartet, or contemporary piano favorites, you will enjoy an eclectic schedule of onboard entertainment every night.
