Overview

One of the oldest and best-preserved estates in Tuscany, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is located in Montalcino, Tuscany, in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Val d’Orcia. The 800-year-old estate comprises the ancient castle ruins, a medieval church and the Borgo, a historic village that now forms the heart of the resort. Housed in the buildings of the Borgo itself, the 23 suites feature antique furniture, genuine textiles, and artisanal pieces, exposed wooden beams—preserving the site’s rich heritage alongside modern comforts and the latest technology. Castiglion del Bosco is a wonderful place to indulge in the sites—and tastes—of Tuscany, featuring a leading Brunello di Montalcino winery, two restaurants, an organic vegetable garden, and a cooking school. Designed by Tom Weiskopf, the estate’s breathtaking 18-hole golf course offers an unparalleled playing experience at Italy's only private golf club. A pampering spa, plentiful leisure facilities, and a carefully chosen offering of activities and excursions designed to highlight the region’s landscape and culture make this a truly world-class retreat.

Map & Location

The most convenient airport is Florence Airport, Peretola (FLR). From the U.S., you'll connect via Paris, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt or another major European city. There are also flights into Pisa's Galileo Galilei Airport and Rome's Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport, both of which are about two hours away.

From Florence, you'll drive about 90 minutes to reach your hotel. You'll likely want to rent a car in order to explore the vast countryside. La Corte dei Papi has an on-site rental car desk, and club partner Avis is always happy to help. If you prefer private transportation service, just let your concierge know. Even better, La Corte dei Papi is about 50 minutes to one hour and 45 minutes away from our Inspirato Residences in Tuscany, making the hotel an excellent choice for a multi-stop vacation in one of Italy's finest destinations.
